Herman Miller's aeron chair, created in 1994, has become distinctly associated with net geeks working at their computers all day long. It has become so popular that it has even been featured in the New York Museum of Modern Art, permanently on exhibit thanks to its ingenious design by Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf. Fame and notoriety aside however, it is popular simply because it is a deliciously comfortable chair.
The aeron chair was designed after the human body. Based on the fact that there are no straight lines on our bodies, it then follows that neither does an Aeron chair. Aeron chairs were designed to fit our bodies and body movements, customized specifically for comfort and support.
The chair has at least three breakthrough design technologies: PostureFit, the Kinemat tilt and Pellicle suspension. PostureFit offers responsive, ergonomic support for posture and the lower back, complimented by Pellicle suspension. The Pellicle is a flexible mesh found on the seat and back of the chair, where the upholstery would usually be. Pellicle suspends your weight over the chair, taking most of the pressure away from your lower back. The Pellicle is also form-fitting, as it adjusts to individual users, and cool, as the Pellicle mesh allows air to pass through. The Kinemat tilt allows smooth transitional movement of the chair when the person sitting in it leans forward or reclines, and supports your posture whether you choose to keep or stop moving. You may not notice these revolutionary technologies at work, but you will notice how refreshed you feel even after slaving over projects and rushing through deadlines.
The aeron chair comes in three sizes Aside from these breakthrough elements and its adjustable personality, the aeron chair also comes in three sizes, ensuring that the chair is a specific fit for you. It's also designed to follow your body's natural stances and movements - adjustable foot rests that move with the seat as it goes up and down, the arm rests slope forward to relieve stress from the forearms, the seat has a waterfall-sloped edge to promote circulation in the thighs, among others. These breakthroughs have been tested by several ergonomists, physical therapists and orthopedists and their findings helped develop and refine the aeron chair into the ingeniously comfy chair it is today.
The aeron chair is not only ergonomically correct, it is environmentally correct as well. It is made up of recycled material, and designed to be sturdy and durable. While there are parts of the chair that may wear out in time, these parts are easily replaceable and recyclable as well.
Use it in the office and work till late while retaining good posture - none of those stressful back pains you get from too many hours working overtime. Use it at home and find that it's a fantastic chair to unwind in. Now you know why millions of net geeks have become poster boys for the aeron chair. Of course, you don't need to be a net geek to enjoy its benefits - the Aeron Chair lets you do whatever activity you need, sitting down however way you want. Now, that's a custom-fit chair!
